Publications

Simmons, P. (2023). Coachees experiences of strengths-based coaching when identifying their strengths with the VIA Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS). International Journal of Evidence Based Coaching and Mentoring, S17, pp.176-192.

Research

Previously I have explored strengths-based coaching using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) which explored the lived experiences of coachees that have been coached using the VIA Inventory of Character Strengths.

My research is now focusing on meaning in life and looking at how it is explored and developed in coaching. I am using Constructivist Grounded Theory with the aim of developing a theory of how meaning focused conversations are taking place and how they may be impacting a coachees sense of meaning in life.
